Misc. This page is for everything that doesn’t really fit into any other page… My daughter went to a craft show and saw a guy who was selling wooden bangle bracelets. She asked if I could make her one, and I got kinda carried away. From top to bottom, these are made from Brazilian Pecan, Maple with a dyed wood hexagon, and oak. The oak one has a ring of bright blue, sparkly, inlaid fingernail polish that can’t be seen in the picture. These were all turned “free hand”, without any jigs and are made from walnut, birch, poplar and one made from a chunk of an old hedge post. Calling this a bowl of spheres sounds better than saying, “Look at my balls in the bowl!” When I was in my bracelet making phase, I made this one out of pieces of an old pair of my son’s blue jeans and epoxy. turned out really, really, cool! I decided to make a Bell for a Christmas ornament out of Sycamore and Cherry. We ended up NOT putting it on the tree because A) it was bigger and heavier than I had intended, and B) it’s basically ugly! I made this vase for a daughter out of a hedge post that is at least 50 years old. She had it setting on her desk at work, until a co-worker without any apparent moral center tried to steal it! This was my first attempt at a pepper grinder. This one, made out of walnut, is a bit “clunky” in form, but it works really, really well! I went through a phase of making long stemmed goblets. Some are oak, maple, or walnut and a few are segmented. These are pretty fragile to turn and the stems will break if too much pressure is used while spinning the wood. Still some finish work to do on the underside of the lid. PVC Box side view Snowmen Christmas tree ornaments Wig stand to donate to a local cancer center.
