Miniature bird houses are great little projects! Most are made with wood scraps laying around the shop and they don’t take all that much time to create. The designs are nearly endless for what you can make. I’ve given many of these away as little gifts, but have kept quite few to hang across the mantle in the breakfast nook in our house. My daughters sold a collection of these at a craft fair to raise money for a college trip to Europe and I was amazed at how many people bought them because of the color of the little bird that was added to the turning. Go figure…

The top was made from a piece of a blank I clued up to make a goblet out of. The body came from the remains of an old cedar chest that the kids broke. Love the grain patterns in this one!
Spalted Maple and Walnut
I absolutely hate this one! I’ve tried to burn it several times, but the kids keep rescuing it from the fire.

Was really just a practice piece, but I kind liked the way the rings went all over the place.

I don’t know what it is about this one, but it is one of my favorites. Simple, fat bottomed, and cute. The bird got knocked off the perch, need to get a new one…

This one always reminded me of a fishing bobber…
